Energy Advisor
Location: British Columbia
Work Term: Permanent
Hours: Full time


Overview: Are you passionate about energy efficiency, step code compliance, and sustainable building practices? Join AUM Building Science as an Energy Advisor to help clients optimize their energy performance and meet regulatory standards. This role offers hands-on experience with residential energy assessments and opportunities for career growth in the Lower Mainland and beyond.

Responsibilities: • Examine plans, drawings, and site layouts to assess energy efficiency.
• Conduct energy audits on new and existing residential homes.
• Ensure compliance with BC Step Code, building codes, and specifications.
• Schedule and perform energy assessments, including blower door testing.
• Inspect building construction to ensure adherence to energy standards.
• Maintain and build relationships with homeowners, builders, and contractors.
• Create HOT2000 reports based on audit findings.
• Prepare clear and concise reports on home energy conditions.
• Ensure safe working conditions during site inspections.

Qualifications: • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
• Certification: Certified Energy Advisor (CEA) designation or willingness to obtain it during the probationary period.
• Successful completion of an approved CEA training program for new homes in British Columbia.
• Passed the NRCan examination for CEAs in BC.
• Experience in home energy auditing and knowledge of HOT2000 software.
• 1-2 years of experience in home construction, renovation, or energy assessments.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with AutoCAD/Revit is an asset.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and communication abilities.
• Familiarity with BC building codes and energy efficiency regulations.
• Physically fit and able to carry up to 50 lbs of equipment.
• Licence: Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence.

Work Setting:
Various locations (in-person site visits).
